Much More Than a Compressor

Despite its name, Open Compressor is way more than just a compressor. It has pre-comp Clipper and Limiter stages — each with dedicated waveform displays, dials and meters — which provide a ton of dynamics-processing flexibility all from one plugin. 

The Clipper catches transient peaks before they hit the limiter and compressor, allowing for more transparent dynamic control, and preventing undesired compression artifacts.

The Limiter processes peaks before compression, so the compressor can work on a
more controlled signal. This results in smoother, more musical compression without
aggressive pumping.

The Detect feature listens to the peaks of your source material and automatically sets the Clipper and Limiter accordingly. (1dB and 2dB below peak for the Clipper and Limiter respectively.) 

Together, they work together to give you more options when using the main compressor. It’s all part of Open Compressor’s mission: to be a go-to tool for all your dynamics processing needs.
