Standing Out in the Crowd

There are tons of compressor plugins on the market — from the ones bundled in your DAW, to specialist tools, to high-powered boutique processors that cost hundreds of dollars. Many of them are excellent. So what, you might ask, made us think it was a good idea to design and develop a brand new compressor in such a crowded space?
Unlike a lot of other dynamics processing plugins, Open Compressor is unusual in that it doesn't try to emulate something else. It doesn’t set out to mimic a classic piece of vintage gear, and it’s not cloaked in mystique or oversimplified with a few big dials. Instead, it was designed to make dynamics processing as objective, transparent and as easy to understand as possible.

It shows you under the hood
Open Compressor’s forte is giving you the information that lets you make informed decisions about your sound. Sure, there are go-to parameters that let you dial in sounds quickly. But there’s also a bunch of in-depth visualizers linked to super specific controls, which let you fine tune your sound in an extremely detailed way. And when you do want to mimic a classic piece of gear, there are presets that accurately emulate those settings — because Open Compressor can do it all!
The aim of using Open Compressor is that you will gain the skills needed to make your tracks sound the way you want them to. If you're already using Open Compressor, we'd love to hear your feedback.
